about

Body Motion are proud to present SULK, the debut EP from London-based producer Lauren Duffus that sees her navigate grief and loss through music.

Having already appeared on Edited Arts compilation Serotonin, not to mention finding support from a growing clutch of DJs (guesting for Martha, First Terrace and Low Arts Club), the deeply emotive SULK serves as her debut record proper.

Simultaneously playful and tender, her unique chopped-n-stretched, hyperchoral sketches articulate something heartfelt and cinematic in the offbeat vocal samples, dub-pop rhythm and layers of atmospherics.

‘Braeburn’ brings a reflective and bittersweet saudade, with the gentle flute dancing across languid guitar and dotted beat.

Painfully real and surreal, ‘Soho Road’s heart-wrenching sobs interplay with organ before diving into more caustic and cathartic expression.

‘Stir Fry’ was self-released during lockdown, but here it appears mixed and mastered for the first time – more massive choral backdrop and surging synth, collaged vocals cascade into melodic runs for something uplifting, equally full of humour and sentiment.
